Two Airports, One Week, Every Family in Texas Moving at Once
The Wednesday before Thanksgiving and the Sunday after are the two days when the curb stops working. Everything about a normal airport run gets harder on both.
The bottom line: Thanksgiving concentrates a month of airport traffic into about five days at DFW and Love Field. Rideshare supply does not scale to match it, surge runs through the whole window, and a driver who sees four adults with six checked bags can and does cancel. A pre-arranged, flight-tracked vehicle sized for your actual family removes the part of the trip that goes wrong.
Why is Thanksgiving harder than an ordinary airport run?
Because it is not one person with a carry-on. It is grandparents flying in from somewhere cold, a couple with a toddler and a car seat, and a pile of checked bags that never fits the vehicle the app sends. Add the year’s worst terminal congestion and a curb where nobody is allowed to linger, and the variable that breaks is always the same one: the car is too small and arrives too late.
Which days actually matter?
Departures cluster hard on the Tuesday and Wednesday before Thanksgiving; arrivals for people flying in land across the same two days. The return wave is the Sunday after, which is reliably the single busiest arrival day of the year at DFW. If your travel touches any of those three days, book it in October — not the week of.
The Flight Moves, the Booking Moves
Holiday-week delays are near-certain. Dispatch tracks the flight and shifts the chauffeur’s staging to actual wheels-down. Nobody calls anybody from the baggage hall.
Sized for the Bags, Not Just the Seats
Four people and six checked bags is a Sprinter question, not an SUV question. Give dispatch the bag count and the right vehicle turns up the first time.
Older Relatives Travel Better
A known chauffeur, a vehicle waiting at a confirmed spot, and someone carrying the bags. For a grandparent arriving alone into a holiday crowd, that is the whole difference.
Car Seats Installed Before Pickup
Rear-facing, forward-facing and booster seats at no extra charge, fitted before the chauffeur leaves. Put the ages and weights in the booking notes.
The Two Airports Hand Your Family Over in Different Places
This trips up more Thanksgiving arrivals than anything else. Where you meet the car at DFW is not where you meet it at Love Field.
The bottom line: At DFW International, prearranged cars are met on the lower-level roadway outside baggage claim, at the terminal you landed at. At Dallas Love Field, prearranged pickups use Garage C Level 1 beside the valet pavilion, reached by following signs toward the southeast end of the terminal. Tell relatives which one applies before they fly.
Where does the car meet us at DFW International?
On the lower-level roadway outside baggage claim, at your own terminal — the same floor your bags come out on. App-based rideshare is sent to the upper level instead, which on the Sunday after Thanksgiving means a lift or escalator with a luggage cart and a column number to find in a crowd. Your chauffeur comes to you. The full terminal-by-terminal detail is on our DFW airport car service page.
And at Dallas Love Field?
Different place entirely. Prearranged limousine and private-luxury pickups use Garage C Level 1, beside the valet pavilion. After collecting bags, follow airport signs toward the southeast end of the terminal — it is a short walk from the terminal to the pickup area. This changed in January 2025, so a relative working from an older guide will go to the wrong place. Our Love Field car service page has the arrival and departure detail.
| Airport | Where the car meets you | Worth telling relatives |
|---|---|---|
| DFW International | Lower-level roadway outside baggage claim, at your terminal | You do not change terminals or floors. Send us the flight number, not the terminal. |
| Dallas Love Field | Garage C Level 1, beside the valet pavilion | Follow signs toward the southeast end of the terminal. It is not the terminal curb. |
What if someone needs an accessible pickup?
Say so when you book, not on the day. Accessible arrangements at Love Field are a separate, airport-sanctioned path that has to be set up with the provider in advance, and wheelchair assistance inside either terminal is arranged through the airline ahead of travel. For an elderly relative flying in alone at Thanksgiving, that conversation is worth having in October.
What Dispatch Needs to Get Thanksgiving Right
Four pieces of information turn a holiday airport run from a gamble into a scheduled event.
The bottom line: Send the flight number, the total head count, the checked-bag count and any car seats or accessibility needs. From those four things dispatch picks the vehicle, calculates the staging time from live flight data, and quotes a fixed rate that does not move because it is the busiest Sunday of the year.
How early should we book Thanksgiving airport transportation?
For Thanksgiving week specifically, book in October. Two to three weeks is the general guidance for a standard transfer, but the Wednesday-before and Sunday-after windows book out well ahead of that, and larger vehicles go first. A family of seven arriving Sunday afternoon is competing for the same Sprinters as every other family of seven in the Metroplex.
Can one booking cover relatives arriving on different flights?
Yes, and it is worth asking about. If two sets of family land within a reasonable window at the same airport, dispatch can hold the vehicle and consolidate them into one run rather than two. If the gap is long or they are landing at different airports, separate vehicles are usually cheaper than a vehicle sitting idle — dispatch will tell you which way round it falls.
- Flight number, always. Not the terminal, not the scheduled time. The flight number is what lets dispatch follow a delay without a phone call.
- Checked bags, counted honestly. This is the number that decides the vehicle. Under-reporting it is how a family ends up standing at the curb next to a car that will not hold their luggage.
- Car seat types and ages. Provided at no extra charge, installed before your chauffeur sets off.
- Accessibility needs, in advance. These are arranged through dispatch before the travel date, not requested at the curb.
- Book the return at the same time. The Sunday after Thanksgiving is the hardest slot of the year to fill late.
Thanksgiving Airport Transportation FAQ
What DFW families ask dispatch before booking Thanksgiving week travel.
The bottom line: Book Thanksgiving week in October, especially the Wednesday before and the Sunday after. Flights are tracked so delays cost you nothing. Rates are fixed at booking with no holiday surge. Car seats are included, and accessible pickups are arranged in advance rather than on the day.
When should I book Thanksgiving airport transportation in DFW?
October, if your travel touches the Tuesday or Wednesday before Thanksgiving or the Sunday after. Those three days are the heaviest of the year at DFW and Love Field, and the larger vehicles families need are the first to be committed. A standard transfer outside those days is comfortable at two to three weeks.
Do you charge more on Thanksgiving week?
No. The rate is locked when you book. Holiday weekends, weather delays and the busiest arrival Sunday of the year make no difference to what you pay. QTS does not run surge or dynamic pricing at any time of year.
What happens if our flight is delayed on a holiday?
Nothing you need to do. Dispatch monitors the flight with live data and moves your chauffeur’s staging time to your actual arrival. Holiday-week delays are close to guaranteed, which is exactly why the tracking matters more this week than any other.
We have six people and eight suitcases. What do you send?
A Mercedes Sprinter, most likely. An executive SUV comfortably handles up to six passengers with six to eight bags, but eight checked bags plus six people is right at the edge. Give dispatch the real bag count and we will size it properly rather than optimistically.
Can you collect my parents when I cannot get to the airport?
Yes, and it is one of the most common Thanksgiving bookings we take. Give dispatch their flight number and mobile number, and your chauffeur meets them at the correct point for that airport, handles the bags and drives them to your door. You get a message when they are collected.
Which airport should relatives fly into?
Whichever their airline serves — but it is worth knowing that Love Field is usually faster for anyone heading to North Dallas, the Park Cities, Plano or Frisco, while DFW is better for Fort Worth, Southlake, Grapevine and Arlington, and handles all international arrivals. Either way we quote it the same.
Do you provide child car seats for holiday travel?
Yes, at no extra charge — rear-facing, forward-facing and booster. Add the seat type and your child’s approximate age and weight in the booking notes and it is sanitised and installed before the chauffeur leaves for your pickup.
Can you handle the return trip to the airport after Thanksgiving?
Yes, and book it at the same time as the arrival. The Sunday after Thanksgiving is the single hardest slot of the year to fill at short notice. Departures are quoted the same way, with the pickup time calculated backwards from your flight.
