The United States Grand Prix is one of the largest sporting weekends on the Texas calendar, and it happens on a purpose-built circuit in the countryside southeast of Austin. That location is what makes the racing great and the logistics hard: Circuit of the Americas draws a large crowd onto a small network of rural approach roads, three days running.
In 2026 the race falls on Sunday, October 25, with track running from Friday the 23rd. Austin is not a Sprint round this season, so the weekend follows the conventional format. How far is COTA from Dallas-Fort Worth, and how long is the drive?
Austin is roughly 195 to 215 miles from the Metroplex, about 3.5 hours down I-35, and Circuit of the Americas sits southeast of the city off SH-130 — which means the approach skirts central Austin rather than driving through it. QTS runs the trip as a private charter, so your group leaves on your schedule instead of chasing a flight.
Why not just drive ourselves and park at the circuit?
COTA sits on a small network of rural roads southeast of Austin, so the approach and the post-race exit are the hardest part of the weekend for self-drivers. Circuit parking is sold in advance by lot and the correct pass is the guest's responsibility to purchase. With a QTS charter you are not parking at all: your chauffeur handles the approach, and dispatch coordinates the appropriate COTA drop-off and post-event meeting point for the vehicle and current event procedures.
Do you cover all three days, or just race day?
Either. Many groups book the vehicle for the full weekend so it runs hotel-to-circuit and back on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, plus dinner and downtown Austin in the evenings. What size vehicle do we need for an F1 group?
Executive SUVs cover a small group of up to six. Mercedes Sprinters handle 14 and are a common choice for F1 groups — enough room for a corporate group or a set of friends plus gear. For larger parties, hospitality groups and company outings, executive minibuses run 24 to 36 and full motorcoaches seat 56. Anything above an SUV is arranged as a chartered vehicle for the weekend.
Can you pick us up from Austin-Bergstrom, or do we have to start in DFW?
Both work. Many groups fly into Austin-Bergstrom (AUS), which is close to the circuit, and use QTS for airport-to-hotel and hotel-to-COTA runs across the weekend. How early should we leave for the circuit on race day?
Earlier than feels necessary — and now that the timetable is published you can work backward from it. FP1 is 12:30 p.m. Friday, FP3 is 12:30 p.m. Saturday, and the Grand Prix is 3:00 p.m. Sunday. The roads into COTA build through the morning and Sunday carries the largest crowd of the three days. Is F1 weekend a good fit for a corporate group?
F1 weekend suits a corporate group well. What about concerts and everything else happening that weekend?
