Christmas Is a Fortnight of Arrivals, Not One Rush
Thanksgiving is a compressed spike. Christmas spreads across two weeks, which sounds easier and is actually harder to plan.
The bottom line: Christmas arrivals spread from roughly the third weekend of December through Christmas Eve, then reverse across the days between Christmas and the New Year. The luggage is heavier because people bring gifts, the stays are longer, and many households are collecting several relatives on different days — which makes it a series of bookings rather than one, and worth setting up in a single conversation.
Why is the luggage the thing that catches people out?
Because Christmas suitcases are not travel suitcases. A couple flying in for five days brings two large cases, a carry-on each and a bag of presents that will not compress. Two couples and a child arriving together is comfortably beyond what a standard SUV holds once the gifts are in. The bag count you give dispatch is the number that decides the vehicle, and Christmas is the one time of year people routinely underestimate it.
And the return leg?
Runs between Christmas and New Year, when DFW is busy in a different pattern — heavier on the 26th through the 28th and again around the 2nd. Passengers often go home with more than they arrived with. Book the return at the same time as the arrival, and tell dispatch if the bag count has changed.
Gifts Count as Luggage
The most under-reported cargo of the year. Give dispatch the real number of bags including the presents and the vehicle turns up right the first time.
Several Arrivals, One Plan
Relatives landing on three different days is three bookings that dispatch can set up in one conversation, with one contact and one invoice at the end.
December Weather Is Tracked
Winter delays at connecting hubs are the norm, not the exception. Dispatch follows the flight and moves the chauffeur rather than asking you to call.
Car Seats Included
Rear-facing, forward-facing and booster, fitted before pickup at no extra charge. Grandchildren arriving for Christmas is the most common reason we fit them.
Tell Your Relatives Which Airport Rules Apply to Them
Most Christmas pickup confusion comes from a relative applying what they know about one DFW-area airport to the other one.
The bottom line: At DFW International, prearranged cars meet you outside baggage claim, at the terminal you land at. Dallas Love Field does not use the terminal curb at all — prearranged pickups are at Garage C Level 1 beside the valet pavilion, following signs toward the southeast end of the terminal. Send relatives the right one before they fly.
What happens at DFW International?
Your chauffeur comes to your own terminal and meets you outside baggage claim, on the same level your bags arrive on. There is no terminal change and no Skylink ride involved in reaching the car. For a relative arriving into Terminal D from an international connection, the customs buffer is built into the dispatch window automatically. Full detail on our DFW airport car service page.
What happens at Dallas Love Field?
Different, and worth saying out loud to anyone who has not flown into Love Field since 2024. Prearranged limousine and private-luxury pickups use Garage C Level 1, beside the valet pavilion. After bags, follow airport signs toward the southeast end of the terminal — a short walk from the terminal to the pickup area. Departures are handled differently again: the chauffeur drops at the upper-level curbside near the ticketing hall. Our Love Field car service page covers both directions.
What if a relative needs help getting to the vehicle?
Arrange it when you book. Accessible pickup at Love Field is a separate path that has to be set up with the provider in advance rather than requested on arrival, and wheelchair assistance inside either terminal is booked through the airline ahead of the travel date. For an elderly parent flying in alone three days before Christmas, this is the conversation that makes the difference.
| Airport | Arriving | Departing |
|---|---|---|
| DFW International | Outside baggage claim, your own terminal | Departures curb at your airline’s terminal |
| Dallas Love Field | Garage C Level 1, beside the valet pavilion | Upper-level curbside near the ticketing hall |
Set the Whole Christmas Schedule Up in One Conversation
Most households collecting several relatives do it as five separate bookings across November. It is easier and more reliable to do it as one.
The bottom line: Send dispatch every arrival and departure you already know, even the uncertain ones, and it becomes a single schedule with one contact rather than five bookings you have to remember to make. Flight numbers can be added later; the vehicles get held now, which matters because the days around Christmas and New Year commit early.
When should we book Christmas airport transportation?
Early November for anything landing between the 20th and the 24th of December, or in the return window between Boxing Day and the 2nd of January. Standard transfers outside those bands are comfortable at two to three weeks. The larger vehicles — the ones a family of six with Christmas luggage actually needs — commit first.
Can one booking cover two flights arriving close together?
Often, and it is worth asking. If two sets of relatives land within a reasonable window at the same airport, dispatch can hold one vehicle and consolidate them rather than sending two. If the gap is long, or they are landing at different airports, separate vehicles usually work out better than one sitting idle. Dispatch will tell you which way it falls once it sees the flights.
- Flight numbers, not scheduled times. The flight number is what lets dispatch follow a December weather delay without you calling from the baggage hall.
- Count the gifts as bags. The single most common Christmas sizing error, and the one that leaves a family standing next to a car that will not hold their luggage.
- Book the return at the same time. The days after Christmas are as committed as the days before, and passengers usually go home heavier.
- Flag accessibility needs now. These are arranged in advance through dispatch, not requested at the curb on the day.
- Give us the passenger’s mobile number. Especially for relatives travelling alone — the chauffeur texts them directly with the meeting point.
Christmas Airport Transportation FAQ
What DFW families ask dispatch when setting up December arrivals and returns.
The bottom line: Book the 20th to 24th of December and the post-Christmas return window by early November. Flights are tracked so weather delays cost you nothing. Rates are fixed with no holiday surge. Count Christmas gifts as luggage when you give dispatch the bag number.
When should I book Christmas airport transportation in DFW?
Early November for arrivals between the 20th and 24th of December and for the return window from Boxing Day through the 2nd of January. Those are the committed bands. A transfer outside them is comfortable at two to three weeks, but the larger vehicles go first either way.
Is there a Christmas surcharge?
No. The rate is agreed at booking and does not change — not for Christmas Eve, not for a weather delay, and not because every app in the Metroplex is surging. QTS does not run dynamic pricing at any point in the year.
How do I know how big a vehicle we need?
Give dispatch the passenger count and the real checked-bag count including presents. Four passengers with six bags fits an executive SUV. Six passengers with Christmas luggage is a Mercedes Sprinter. The gifts are what push most Christmas bookings up a vehicle class, and they are the thing people forget to count.
Can you collect relatives when we cannot get to the airport?
Yes, and it is one of the most common December bookings. Send dispatch their flight number and mobile number. Your chauffeur meets them at the correct point for that specific airport, handles the bags and drives them to your door, and you get a message once they are collected.
What if their flight is delayed by winter weather?
Nothing for you to do. Dispatch tracks the flight and moves the chauffeur’s staging to actual wheels-down at no extra charge. December delays from connecting hubs are routine, which is precisely why the tracking matters more in this month than any other.
Can we book several relatives arriving on different days at once?
Yes, and it is the easier way to do it. Send every arrival and departure you know about, including the uncertain ones, and dispatch sets it up as one schedule with a single contact and one invoice, rather than five separate bookings spread across November.
Which airport is better for relatives coming to North Dallas?
Usually Love Field — it sits inside the Dallas street grid and is typically quicker to the Park Cities, North Dallas, Plano and Frisco. DFW is generally better for Fort Worth, Southlake, Grapevine and Arlington, and handles all international arrivals. Your relatives’ airline mostly decides it, and we quote either the same way.
Do you provide child car seats over Christmas?
Yes, at no extra charge. Rear-facing, forward-facing and booster seats are sanitised and fitted before the chauffeur leaves. Put the seat type and each child’s approximate age and weight in the booking notes.
